ABOUT
for our Aging Population
As I consider what efforts may best serve my ambition to be an advocate for our aging population, I gain a greater awareness of the totality of my focus, and how it relates to social issues in a more general way.
I would go so far as to assert that our aging population requires the world’s attention to this overlooked generation. Essentially, if we are to properly know and meet the multiple needs of aging, there must be a basic awareness of the issues involved in social and economic contexts. Put simply, the reality of other nations and cultures rethinking their approaches to these populations notwithstanding, I perceive that, largely in the West, there remains an ideology largely only “trusting” that the elderly may, in some fashion, adequately meet their own needs. I further believe that this view is abetted by cultural assumptions in family care for senior members, which, unfortunately, is increasingly a mode of help not reliable.
To be fair, I note that modern Western culture practices a greater interest in how the aged are treated or at least is more willing to confront the marginalization that has so long defined social response in the matter. At the same time, it is widely recognized that those in advanced years are typically ignored for a variety of reasons, including expense, difficulties in accepting responsibility on familial and community levels, and what I believe to be an innate fear in our society that many choose to believe that problems for the aged do not significantly exist. This being the case, I believe my education and experience in this field as an evolving role more dedicated to addressing the realities, which in turn involves increasing public awareness. On a fundamental level, it is extraordinary to me how so many consider the elderly, the population we inevitably join, as somehow removed from mainstream society. This may well be a defense mechanism of a kind, but it can not, and should not be permitted to obfuscate our inescapable obligations to the aging population.
Ultimately, my goal is to take social action and make positive changes to enrich the lives of our aging population. I believe, for example, there are options for the elderly we dismiss, in that many may live fulfilling lives at home when there are direct and indirect support channels available. Our seniors deserve society’s investment in promoting quality healthcare systems that meet them where they are.

Our commitment lies in fostering a vibrant community where every individual can thrive, celebrate their unique journey, and cultivate a legacy of wisdom and inspiration. We strive to redefine aging as a time of creativity, growth, and the possibility that anything is possible with compassion, understanding, respect, and love. As a healthcare advocate and change leader, my passion and life’s work is to ensure that our senior’s age in place with dignity, compassion, and integrity under the acts of humility, respect, and love for one another. I serve this cohort as an authentic healthcare advocate and liaison for families who care for a loved one with real health challenges.
My 20- years of experience in the healthcare field and my Bachelor’s degree in the Management of Aging Services have provided me with an understanding of the challenges that our seniors face daily and the awareness of the issues involved surrounding them, particularly in a social and economic context. As a caregiver to my mom of over 10 years, I understand first-hand the challenges that families face. There is a saying, “A mother can have five children but only one will be called to be the primary caregiver.” Some may call this a tremendous burden for one to carry however, I call it a blessing because you were chosen by a higher power out of all the siblings to give the greatest gift to your loved one; the gift of caregiving. In today’s society, it is essential to assist our aging seniors and to help them age in place through creative and holistic principles that promote independence, dignity, peace, love, and overall wellness.
